I’ve compiled a list of free hand drawn fonts. They’re not the classic handwritten style but rather sketches of actual serif and sans serif fonts. If you know of any other font that would fit into this collection let me know.

Jonas Buntentbruch from Germany has started a very special and interesting portfolio: DONE (daily design workout). Every day he will complete a new design. He started on January 1st and will finish on December 31st. I admire his dedication. It is a great way to learn new things and to keep the creativity flowing. I wish him all the best and will certainly check his work regularly.

OMG what a mess. I’ve just updated to Wordpress 2.5.1 and it took me forever. I am sorry for the inconvenience. I had to change FTP clients half way through because Cyberduck was causing problems. Anyways, I’m back now. Let me know if there are any bugs.

David Carron is a 20 year old student from Denver, Colorado working as a freelance designer and illustrator. When I first saw his work I was blown away. He manages to combine beatiful colour schemes with detailed illustrations and photos. His symbiosis between grunge elements and fine lines is very unique. Catch more of his work at zulu-eos.deviantart.com or at humblevoice.com/avadad.

Pawl Nolbert is a freelance graphic / web designer and illustrator from Poland. He worked for clients like Citroen, Nike, Unilever and McDonalds. I stumbled upon his gorgeous portfolio at www.hellocolor.com through his deviantart account. He knows how to put bright colours to life using different techniques of swirls, glows and the popular “grunge paper overlay” effect.

PicLens is the most amazing thing I’ve experienced lately. It is a plugin that lets you turn a simple photostream into an interactive module to browse images. It is really sad that there are no real screenshots available, but trust me. It is the bomb. It is supported by the major browsers, although it works best in firefox. If your lucky enough to an apple laptop with 2-finger scrolling enabled trackpad then you’re in for a treat.
Basically what the plugin does is project the pictures from flickr, deviantart, google, facebook, … onto a wall which you can zoom in on, turn left and right or simply lay back and enjoy a slideshow. It’s never been been more fun to look for inspiration. Let me know what you think about it.

A list featuring artwork with a common inspiration: CMYK. All these designs were found by searching for “CMYK” on deviantArt. There are many more but these struck me as special. It shows how a single idea can be interpreted in many different ways. I’ve linked each picture to the associated artist. Go clicky!

This is amazing. Animals on the Underground are animals created using only the tube lines, stations and junctions of the London Underground Map. Paul Middlewick who first spotted them in 1988 has a great imagination. Now I know what I can do while waiting for a train.
