Coming from a country with less than 500k people living in it’s not hard to imagine that there are only a few great graphic designers around. Doing a location based search on Behance I found exactly 3 very talented and inspiring artists. Either there aren’t any more around or they just haven’t found the way onto the platform. Either way, I’m delighted to present to you Luxembourg’s finest.
Peter Becker:
Peter Becker is from Germany, but he works in a small agency in Luxembourg as an Art Director. That is good enough for me to make it into the list. After all his designs are gorgeous.

Fabian Barral is a French graphic designer and photographer. He spends 10 hours a day in front of the computer while drinking an average of 5 cups of coffee (or so he claims). I can relate to that. I discovered Fabien Barral’s art through Graphic-Exchange, a site where he showcases his personal art as well as designs by his favourite designers. I spent quite a long time on this site discovering one masterpiece after another. If there was only one inspirational website in the world this would be it. Another great aspect of Graphic-Exchange is that Fabien invites you to trade art with him: some of your prints for some of his. I also admire the fact that Fabien doesn’t have RSS. He forces you to visit the site in order get the latest updates. This way the beautiful web design won’t go to waste. For more of his work visit his personal portfolio at Imaginary Moments. Here are some samples to get you started.

I’m a self-diagnosed tea and coffee addict and I am not ashamed about it. I know that many artists, be they designers, musicians, photographers or other got the same problem. Without our daily dose of cafeine we just don’t function. In order not to be alone with that burden I decided to open a flickr group where I invite you all to post your “I-drink-tea/coffee-self-portraits“. I believe this is a nice way to get to know each other a bit better. After all we’re a big and happy family. Join the Artists’s Tea/Coffee Appreciation Group now.

Julian James works under the alias of Whyisbox and recently updated his site. He was kind enough to inform me about it. Unfortunately he doesn’t provide a lot, or none, info about himself. His designs speak from themselves. I love his character designs and simplistic approach. He’s still busy uploading new stuff to his portfolio. I can’t wait to see his other designs.

The kind folks over at UPrinting got in touch with me and asked whether I’d be interested in giving away 1000 free business cards to my readers. Obviously I said yes. So here we are now. I figured it would be best to split them and offer 4 people the chance to win 250 business cards. Read the rest of this entry »
