Colours tell a lot about someone’s personality. So in an effort to learn a bit more about my favourite designers and bloggers I started a 1-question mass interview to ask them what their favourite colour is. Although the colours they chose are very different these 40 creative minds have one thing in common. They are at the top of their game and I respect them deeply for their contributions to the design community. So please visit their websites/blogs and discover outstanding articles, free high quality resources and gorgeous designs.
As a bonus I made an A2 poster containing all the favourite colours with the respective names for you to download as pdf for free. All you need to do is take it to your local print shop or simply use your inkjet at home to print it.
Cool colours are generally associated with feelings of calmness, stability, harmony, trust and wisdom.
Warm colours are generally associated with feelings of love, energy, enthusiasm, joy and strength.
Neutral colours are generally associated with feelings of elegance, sophistication, authority, modernity and reliabilty.

If you want to know more about your favourite bloggers and designer I highly recommend reading “Music of Design: What do you listen to?” on Outlaw Design Blog. Danny Outlaw asked a handful of popular designers (including me) to share with him what type of music gets their creative juices flowing and what they listen to while designing. The results are quite surprising and range from classical to metal tunes.
For those of you who are interested in the meaning of colours I recommend reading “Color in Web Design: Color Symbology“.
Finally I want to thank everyone who participated in this project. I couldn’t have done it without you.
