FYI Monday: Retro Inspired Art by Mark Weaver
This post is part of the For Your Inspiration Monday Series showcasing the most inspiring designs out there. Each week a new artist or design style will be presented in order to get your creative juices flowing for the upcoming week. I hope you enjoy the series. Mark Weaver is a freelance graphic designer & illustrator based in Atlanta, Georgia. His artwork is often composed of retro inspired collages combined with bold typography. I’m particularly fond of his screenprints, there’s something beautiful about the tactile feel of a screenprinted poster. With his signature style Mark managed to land the bid clients such as The New York Times, GOOD magazine & WIRED magazine. Nice collections. retro style is something that looks very cool
Ah, retro– gotta love it! Really enjoyed the post, Franz, thanks!
I like the different way Weaver has captured the retro effect by not using that grungey texture look that is used so often. Instead he focuses on the colours and tones whilst using influences from Bauhaus with the use of geometric shapes. My favourite piece is second from the bottom because of the bold shapes and the contrasting red against white, with a mix of photography and illustration.
Love midwest moonchild! thanks for the post.
