FYI Monday: Retro Inspired Illustrations by Ben Newman

This post is part of the For Your Inspiration Monday series showcasing the most inspiring designs out there. Each week a new artist or design style will be presented in order to get your creative juices flowing for the upcoming week. I hope you enjoy the series.

Ben Newman is a freelance illustrator based in Bristol, UK. With gorgeous colour schemes and minimal, yet striking, geometrical layouts Ben really captures the essence of vintage illustrations. It often reminds me of old book and games covers. The vintage / retro feel of the illustrations, especially those involving animals, make me quite nostalgic. My favourite element has to be the colour schemes though. it’s always spot on. For more inspiration make sure to visit bennewman.co.uk.

  1. Thank you for sharing Ben Newman’s work. I look forward to alerts for more of your posts

  2. I love the block-colour quality of retro graphics, they’re such neat shapes that scream ‘screen printing’. The cat image is my favourite for it’s simplicity, it makes me think of a felt collage. The blue, white and red image is also a favourite for the symmetrical layout and simple lines/circles.
