Kinetic Typography is the method by which you visualize a speech, conversation or lyrics only by means of animated text. I’ve put together a list of 11 typographic videos about cult movies. Not only are these animations very interesting but also they offer a great source of inspiration for static typographic design. If that’s not enough you could always try to determine what fonts were used.
I’ve just finished the new calendar series wallpaper for June 08 and I couldn’t wait to show it to you. It comes in 3 different resolution and you have the option to download a non-calendar version of each. This month I submitted my design to Smashing Magazine which features each month the best calendar wallpaper. Let’s hope they like it. Read more »
People have been waiting for this for quite some time and Scott Hansen was teasing us real good. Well it wasn’t his fault as he wasn’t allowed to reaveal the design until it was available in Obama’s campaign shop. Now that the wait is over I know that it was well worth it. It is amazing how Iso50 manages to put so much inspiration into one single design. Now all I’m hoping for is a couple of close-up scans to see all the details.
If your lucky enough to live in California then you’re in for a treat. An artist (if you know his name please tell me) has transformed all his walls into pieces of art over a time of more than 2 years. Now that he sold the house he has to paint over everything. Before destroying everything though he offers us the chance to see his artwork one last time. I really wish I could be there…
The number one t-shirt community Threadless now offers prints. Every monday they will release 3 new poster designs in a limited edition of 250 each. It’s like framing one of their tees. The UK-based designer and freelancer John Latham has it all: beautiful work and the greatest identity name ever. He works under the alias “Monkeysee Monkeydesign” and his art is influenced a great deal by Scott Hansen (iso50). Many artists try to recreate this style, but John really managed to capture the retro feel of it without giving the impression of a simple rip-off. As well as being a master at typographic design Latham, who only started in 2006, has a great sense for colours.
I just strolled through my old post and some new artists whom I’m going to present to you in the near future and got really inspired. I’ve sketched next month’s calendar wallpaper and I’ll start working on it in Illustrator and Photoshop once my last exam is over. On the 21st it’ll be all over and I’ve finally got all the time to indulge in the world of blogging and design. I am not sure about the colours though. I’m thinking about grey, white, red and possibly blue in it. Maybe I’ll work in a dark to bright gradient to symbolize the start of summer. You might ask yourself why I publish this. Well the answer is simple. I want to keep you up to date about the things to come and show you how my designs gain life. I hope you’re as excited as I am to see how the end result will turn out (and how close it is to this sketch). I’m also currently working on a new design for fudgegraphics. I want a unique bright 3 column layout that is easier to read and has space for sponsors. Read more »
