So here we are again with the free fonts list. Today I have restricted myself to ultra bold, techno style, fonts. I didn’t really know what to call them. Some might describe the fonts as retro or disco. The block letters are ideal for poster graphics. I bet you have all seen the amazing video of D.A.N.C.E by Justice. It offers a great illustration on how you can use this kind of fonts in simple, effective, t-shirt designs as shown in the screenshots below.

Please remember that although all fonts are free for personal and non-commercial use you have to check the indivual disclaimers to find out if and how you can incorporate them in commercial designs.

I’ve compiled a list of the best black and white designs featuring print and animation. When using only these 2 colours all that matters is the composition which makes it so much harder to produce something beautiful. You can’t rely on any colour schemes to simulate a feeling or speak to your audience. This makes it that much more special when you discover a gorgeous black and white design. I’ve got the idea for this post after stumbling onto the works of Maxim Zhestkov, a 22 year old director and designer based in Russia. He’s a genius and uses no colours whatsoever. Below are a few screenshots and prints by Zhestkov.
Furthermore I’ve included the works of Noel Tanner, Andrew Dobbie and some more random black and white designs that struck me as particularly special.

It’s been 3 years since the majestic album “Plans” and Death Cab for Cutie have finally released their new album called “Narrow Stairs”. The first single comes with a beautiful 8 minute long video. “I will possess your Heart” has the kind of melody you can lose yourself in. Have a look/listen for yourself. DCfC really manage to make a bond between design music and design. Their website has a lovely retro feeling and the new album cover is pure genius. Not to forget their concert posters (including works of Jason Munn). I’m off buying Narrow Stairs.

I’ve got my brushes up for less than a week now and the retard behind gulfson.com (google translated link) has already ripped me off. I am not the only one though. Many deviantart users got their work, especially PS Brushes, stolen. I urge you to check that you aren’t another victim. I believe it is more than fair to offer his work on deviantart for everyone else to use. To see people distributing them without permission or credit is outrageous. The design community is very open-minded and I hate when people abuse it. That’s it. **************

I’m so tired right now after today’s exam. So i won’t write much and let the pictures speak for themselves. So much I will reveal though. Joshua Davis is a New York based artist and was the winner of the 2001 Prix Ars Electronica Golden Nica in the category ” Net Excellence “. Read the complete biography here (flickr profile). I discovered him through Maxalot.

I still can’t believe that I’ve stumbled onto the flickr site of this awesome photographer. Jose Javier’s style is so unique to me and I am amazed by the beautiful color schemes and great composition. It’s never been so tough to make a selection of images. Every single photograph is outstanding. Usually I am not that easily impressed with photographs but his work blew me away instantaneously. I am over excited to present to you this exceptional photographer from Donosti/Basque Country. Make sure to have look at his blog as well!
