Nicola Felasquez Felaco is an Italian graphic designer who loves to play with geometric shapes to create abstract portraits. Each pieces uses subtle textures to counter-balance the stark vector feel. Sebastián Andaur is a 17-year-old artist & designer from Chile. I’ve been following his work for a while now and having only updated his portfolio yesterday I figured this is a great time to feature his work. Sebastián has a great sense of colours, shapes and compositions. Every design manifests a new side of his visual talents and I can’t wait to see what he comes up next with. Jeroen van Eerden is a 25-year old freelance graphic designer based in Groningen, the Netherlands. Ever since I came across Jeroen’s work I knew I had to share it with you. Combining vibrant colours with geometric forms is always a winning formula, especially if it’s done at such a detailed level. Atelier Olschinsky is a small creative studio based in Vienna, Austria. It was founded in 2002 by Peter Olschinsky and Verena Weiss who are operating in various fields
such as graphic design, illustration, photography and art direction. While the portfolio is very varied I’ve decided to showcase the more chaotic, archictectural kind of illustrations. Centric: Free August 2011 Calendar Wallpaper

This post is part of the free calendar wallpaper series. Each month I create a new wallpaper featuring the current calendar. Looking at the same image over and over again is not very stimulating. Hence having a new desktop background each month should help getting your creative juices flowing. The August 2011 Calendar Wallpaper is entitled “Centric”. The idea behind the design is of temporal and seasonal nature. August is the “summer month” and as such centric to the seasons. Using the chosen colour scheme I tried to convey the feeling of the different seasons leading up to and lying ahead of the hottest month in the year. The rectangles don’t have a meaning though. I simply like geometric shapes as some of you might already know. Anyways, I hope that you like this month’s free calendar wallpaper. If you do then please help spread the work. Thanks!

This post is part of the free calendar wallpaper series. Each month I create a new wallpaper featuring the current calendar. Looking at the same image over and over again is not very stimulating. Hence having a new desktop background each month should help getting your creative juices flowing. The July 2011 Calendar Wallpaper is entitled “Frequency”. This desktop background uses a lot of vibrant colours and textures to really make it pop. Many of the details have been hand drawn in Photoshop, while the main elements have all been assembled in Illustrator using a mix of gradients and blending modes. It is very reminiscent of the ever popular retro futuristic design style. By the by, if you’re interested in the different stages of creating the design you can see a few shots on Dribbble.
